As we mentioned earlier in the review, the Palicomp Alpha Pulse is supplied in a pre-overclocked state with the Intel Core i7 3770K overclocked to 4.6 GHz.
The Alpha Pulse features an Asus motherboard and therefore also the excellent UEFI which we have seen on all of their motherboards for the past year or so. After pressing DEL to enter the BIOS, we are initially greeted with the simplified interface which is ideal for less technically advanced users.
Moving to the ‘Advanced' mode, we are able to access all the options we would usually expect. The first page of the interface shows a variety of information about the system configuration and BIOS version.
Clicking the ‘AI Tweaker' tab reveals all of the overclocking settings. It's quite clear that Palicomp haven't put a great deal of effort into overclocking as the only settings which have been changed here are the multiplier and voltage. All of the other settings remain on Auto.
Under the ‘Advanced' tab we find all the other BIOS settings that aren't related to overclocking.
On the ‘Monitor' page we can see a variety of information about the system including temperatures and fan speeds. We can also configure the fan speeds for some of the system fans.
The final two pages of the interface let us change the boot configuration and also let us access some extra features including the EZ Flash 2 utility and O.C. profiles.
looks like a good selection of components but im not impressed with the case either. Thermaltake make shoddy cases generally. low cost materials etc.
looks like a nice system, but id rather build my own, as Henry said, dont like this case at all.
Just like me if you are a great fan of gaming computers then you should check out the online shop.
£1399.99 now…
Price increases in this case are reasonable and understandable.
The world’s components are traded in dollars.
At the time it was reviewed, the US dollar was relatively weak – with a value of around $1.65 to £1
The pound now only buys just over $1.50 – which is a drop of almost 10%
That 10% movement will translate into a cost increase of around the same value
If a company submits a machine for review and changes it within 28 days, then we will launch a FULL investigation… But a change after many months where the source of the change is (a) clear and (b) outside the supplier’s control is fine
We hope you agree 🙂
