Overall we are left with generally positive impressions of the Palicomp Alpha Pulse. They have used quality branded components throughout the system, many of which we have reviewed previously in stand alone reviews and given our most prestigious awards.
Palicomp overclock both the processor and graphics card so that you get the best possible performance out of the system. We think that the company could have pushed the i7-3770K up to 4.8 GHz with a little voltage boost, but the lower clock speed should ensure that the components aren't overstressed and last a long time.
Throughout our tests the Alpha Pulse achieve impressive scores that showcase its ability as a high performance PC and gaming rig. The acoustic performance could have been improved however, especially when under load, but this is often the case with high performance gaming PCs.
We aren't convinced that the Thermaltake Overseer RX-I is the best case for this system so we would recommend that you select a different mode from the configurator if you decide to buy. It's quite an ugly model and there are better cases available right now around the same price point. Palicomp have a large selection to choose from but we would recommend something like the Fractal Design Define R3, especially for the reduced noise levels.
The Palicomp Alpha Pulse can be yours for £1299 inc. VAT which we think offers good value for money. Click here to see the product page and configurator. We matched the specification as closely as possible by selecting similar components from Overclockers UK and it came to a grand total of £1359.
For those people who don't have the time or technical ability to build and overclock a gaming PC, the Palicomp Alpha Pulse is a good option and is actually cheaper than buying the components separately.
Pros
- Quality Components.
- Substantial Overclock.
- Good value.
Cons
- Quite Noisy.
- Chassis isn't ideal.
KitGuru says: An impressive gaming PC from Palicomp that performed very well in our review.
looks like a good selection of components but im not impressed with the case either. Thermaltake make shoddy cases generally. low cost materials etc.
looks like a nice system, but id rather build my own, as Henry said, dont like this case at all.
Just like me if you are a great fan of gaming computers then you should check out the online shop.
£1399.99 now…
Price increases in this case are reasonable and understandable.
The world’s components are traded in dollars.
At the time it was reviewed, the US dollar was relatively weak – with a value of around $1.65 to £1
The pound now only buys just over $1.50 – which is a drop of almost 10%
That 10% movement will translate into a cost increase of around the same value
If a company submits a machine for review and changes it within 28 days, then we will launch a FULL investigation… But a change after many months where the source of the change is (a) clear and (b) outside the supplier’s control is fine
We hope you agree 🙂
