Cyberpower sent us a Core i7-13700KF and Core i9-13900KF CPU along with the Infinity X135 Plus system so that we could swap out CPUs and do some of our own direct comparison testing. We ran the same gaming benchmarks again using all three CPUs to see if there is a reason to use a higher-powered CPU alongside the RTX 4080 graphics card.
With a good baseline of results from the 13600KF, we can now look at whether a more powerful Intel CPU will improve gaming performance at all. This is great information for consumers because it will show you if it is worth spending a bit extra for more performance or if being savvy with CPU selection will save you some money.
And it’s very clear from the gaming benchmarks that upgrading the CPU to either a core i7 or Core i9 offers little improvement in gaming.
In a few of the games that we tested the core i9-13900KF produced a minor improvement in FPS at 1440p resolution but at 4K the gains were minimal at best, in most cases the improvement is non-existent so if all you need this system for is gaming, then its simply not worth spending extra on a more powerful CPU.
