Cryo Genesis gets released – dedicated phase change

One of the most exciting UK system builders is Cryo Performance Computing. We have reviewed their systems in the past and today we were informed that they are releasing a new ‘Genesis' machine which looks to be for the serious hardcore enthusiast users.

We spoke with Alan Johnson this morning from Cryo and he said that the system can take both single and dual CPU boards, with dual phase cooling heads. One of the major problems in the early days was the amount of noise a system like this would produce, often reaching almost 50dBa under load. Alan informed us that the system is running now at watercooling levels – in the 30dBa to 35dBa zone. They have managed to balance noise and performance to get the best of both worlds, with CPU temperatures reading 30c at the head.

This means the system is not only a powerhouse for rendering, designing, gaming and video editing, but it will also be usable as an everyday workhorse. A handful of financial companies are already using them and Alan said that some are installing them for use in global datacenters. They have plans for a rackmount workstation, for RDI deployment and this should be available by August or September latest.
