The Oculus Rift hits UK shops next month with £549 price tag

Now that Oculus has officially cleared its backlog of Rift headset pre-orders, the company can begin to expand beyond its online store. From next month, you will be able to pick up the Oculus Rift at various shops in the UK, allowing you to skip the shipping time and take one home the same day you buy.

The headset is listed with a £499 price tag on the Oculus online store. However, this doesn't include shipping costs. At UK retail outlets, the Rift will carry a £549 price tag instead.

The Rift will be available at stores like John Lewis, Curry's PC World, GAME and Harrods. As always, every Rift purchase comes with a free copy of Lucky's Tale. Aside from that, if you are curious about VR, you will be able to demo units at some stores, particularly when the Oculus Touch controllers arrive in October.

There will be an additional surge in Virtual Reality games and experiences once Oculus Touch launches, which will allow the Rift to deliver room-scale and motion control experiences like the HTC Vive.

KitGuru Says: It will be nice to see the Oculus Rift with more of an in-store presence here in the UK. Perhaps it will help boost overall interest in VR. Are any of you planning on picking up an Oculus Rift or a HTC Vive this year?
