OCZ Vertex 450 256GB Review

CrystalDiskmark is a useful benchmark to measure theoretical performance levels of hard drives and SSD’s. We are using V3.0.1 x64.

Overall performance is excellent, this new Indilinx 3 controller is right at the top of the performance chart. Fantastic results, especially in the 4k QD32 tests. Sequential performance is also very high, not quite as the same level as the fastest Sandforce powered drives, but the other results more than make up for it.

When we switch to the compressible enabled 0x00 test the performance of the drive holds, showing very well balanced results in both modes. Just what a performance junkie wants to see.

Above, some included compares from other leading solid state drives which we have reviewed in the last year.

  1. An excellent drive, ive been waiting on one for a while now. still not stock here!

  2. They need to lower the price a little more I think against Samsung drives to get more market share. I know a lot of people just look at the best price and buy based on that.

  3. I would have a problem trusting OCZ. I had 2 of their sandforce powered drives fail, luckily OCUK replaced them for me, but they tend to rush things out before completely checking them. just my 2 cents

  4. Agreed that some of them were faulty, But It is not ethical to target the controllers and we need to change the perception that all drives having SF controller would fail.
