Seagate FireCuda Gaming 1TB External SSD Review

The official performance read/write figures for the drive are the same – up to 2,000MB/s. Even though we couldn't match those maximum figures in our throughput test, the read speed of 1,939.12MB/s and write speed of 1,781.72MB/s make it the fastest non Thunderbolt drive we have seen to date.

Seagate's FireCuda Gaming is by far the fastest USB based drive we have tested to date with its combination of an NVMe SSD and USB 3.2 Gen2 x2 interface.

The speed advantage of the USB 3.2 Gen 2 x2 interface can be clearly seen when the drive is connected to the two previous incarnations of the USB 3.2 specification.
