Samsung T7 Touch 1TB Review

The T7 Touch comes in a small, chunky box. The front of the box has an image of the drive with the Motion LED lit up. Under the image and to the right there is an icon signifying the fingerprint scanner and under this is the capacity of the drive. The rear of the box has a multilingual address list for more warranty information.

One side of the box has compatibility and box contents list whilst the other has drive dimension diagram and a couple of bullet points of some of the drives features.

Bundled with the drive are USB 3.2 USB-C to A and USB-C to C cables. There's also a quick start guide/warranty booklet.

The T7 Touch is tiny, measuring just 85 x 57 x 8mmm and weighing in at 58g. The chassis is all metal and is a rounded design that feels just right when you pick it up. There are two finishes for the T7 Touch, Black or Silver. Samsung has built the T7 to survive the rigours of everyday use, they say its internal shock-resistant frame can withstand a drop up to 2m. The fingerprint scanner is surrounded by what Samsung is calling the ‘Motion LED', a fancy name for the blue LED drive activity indicator.

The interface is a USB 3.1 Gen 2 Type-C supporting 10Gbps transfer speeds.

Samsung's Portable SSD software comes pre-installed on the drive. It simply allows the enabling of encryption protection of the drive as well as the fingerprint sensor. The sensor can register up to four different fingerprints.  The software is supported by Windows, MAC OS and Android devices.
