Patriot Viper VP4100 1TB PCIe 4.0 SSD Review

CrystalDiskMark is a useful benchmark to measure theoretical performance levels of hard drives and SSD’s. We are using v6.0.

The Viper VP4100 performs better at queue depth of 32 in the CrystalDiskMark test than it does at a QD of 1. At a QD of 32 the new drive has 248.2MB/s faster read and 275.8MB/s faster write speeds than the previous generation Viper VPN100 which uses a PCIe Gen3 x4 interface.

Looking at the two CrystalDiskMark result screens it appears that the Phison PS5012-E12 controller is much more efficient when reading compressible 4K data at certain queue depths.
