Patriot Viper VP4100 1TB PCIe 4.0 SSD Review

PCMark 8’s Consistency test provides a huge amount of performance data, so here we’ve looked a little closer at how the VP4100 performs in each of the benchmarks test suites.

Adobe Creative Cloud

In the Adobe CC part of the test, it's the two Photoshop traces that cause the drive the most problems with peaks and troughs in performance throughout the Degradation and Steady State phases. The Photoshop Light trace displays the most consistent performance through the recovery phase of the two.

Microsoft Office

In this part of the test it's usually the Microsoft Word trace that stresses the drives the most but not with the VP4100. Although the test run is far from consistent, there are no really alarming dips in performance.

Casual Gaming

How the drive handles the two casual gaming tests is interesting. It really seems to struggle with the World of Warcraft trace through the Degradation and Steady State phases but has a spectacular recovery phase. The Battlefield 3 trace, on the other hand, is dealt with without any problems with strong bandwidth figures for all phases, except rather oddly, the third recovery phase where the bandwidth suddenly drops.
