Peak read throughput came at the 8MB block mark, at 3,946.24MB/s, before dropping back to finish the test run at 3,632.38MB/s. Needless to say, it's the fastest consumer M.2 NVMe drive we've seen to date.
Our throughput tests showed the performance advantage of the Viper VP4100 has with its PCIe Gen4 x4 interface. In the read throughput test the drive is some 956MB/s faster than the nearest Gen3 x4 drive, Samsung's 970 PRO. It is also 1,159MB/s faster than the previous Viper model, the VPN100 with its PCIe Gen3 x4 interface.
The peak write throughput figure of 4,292.65MB/s came at the 1MB block mark before dropping back to finish the test at 3,988.86MB/s
The contrast between the interfaces is even more marked in the write throughput test, with the drive being some 1,223.77MB/s faster than the nearest PCIe Gen3 x4 drive.
