The Samsung 900 series of SSDs expands in October with the launch of the Samsung 990 EVO Plus. Built utilising Samsung's latest semiconductor improvements and utilising PCIe Gen 4, the new EVO SSD, which is typically Samsung's cheaper offering, boasts speeds of up to 7250MB/s.
Sequential read speeds come up to 7250 megabytes-per-second (MB/s) and write speeds up to 6300MB/s, an enhancement of up to 50% over the standard 990 Evo SSD. The performance boost is thanks to Samsung's latest 8th generation V-NAND technology and 5nm controller, while a nickel-coated heat shield minimises overheating, allowing 73% higher power efficiency than its predecessor.
The ever-increasing demand for high-capacity storage devices is driven by managing large-sized files, high-quality video editing and next-generation gaming. To meet today’s growing storage requirements, the 990 EVO Plus offers ample capacity with a 4TB model, exceeding the storage limits of the 990 EVO. The 990 EVO Plus is equipped with Samsung’s intelligent TurboWrite 2.0, revamped for maximized performance, offering rapid file transfer speeds and reduced lag. If you ever run into issues, the Samsung Magician software has a number of tools designed to help you keep your SSD in good shape.

The 990 EVO Plus manufacturer’s suggested retail price (MSRP) is £105.99 for the 1TB model, £178.79 for the 2TB model, and £326.29 for the 4TB model and will be available in October 2024.
