PNY unveils new CS3150 PCIe Gen5 SSDs with up to 12,000MB/s speeds

PNY is revamping its line-up of SSDs with the new CS3150 PCIe Gen5 M.2 NVMe drives, available with up to 2TB of storage and with speeds of up to 12,000MB/s.

The CS3150 leverages an NVMe PCIe Gen5 x4 interface to deliver read/write speeds of up to 12,000MB/s and 11,000MB/s respectively, putting it amongst the fastest PCIe 5.0 drives available.

Running at those speeds increases thermals, so to keep things running cool, PNY ships these SSDs with an integrated heatsink, available in black, white or black with RGB LEDs if you prefer. Suppose you own multiple PNY RGB products, like the CS3150, XLR8 memory or an XLR8 graphics card. In that case, you can synchronise and control the RGB lighting through the VelocityX software, which also doubles as a graphics card overclocking tool.

These SSDs can take full advantage of Microsoft's DirectStorage technology, enabling even faster loading times in supported games. Even without that though, the speed upgrade of PCIe 5 will lead to snappy loading times regardless. For added security, these SSDs use TCG Opal 2.0 hardware encryption.

The 1TB CS3150 with integrated heatsink will be available in December, priced at $179.99. The RGB version will be available for $189.99.
