Corsair release new 90GB and 180GB Force Series SSD’s

The Corsair Sandforce powered SSD's have proved popular with the enthusiast community and rightly so – the performance of these drives is spectacular.

Corsair are expanding the range by adding new 90GB and 180GB capacities which will probably be replacing the 80GB and 160GB models. Performance levels should be close to the current 285MB/s and 275MB/s read/write speeds with the stonking 50,000 IOPS 4k random write throughput of this particular range.

These have been replaced.

Trim 7 is also supported to help keep the drives in tip top shape. All important pricing looks to be very competitive with Corsair offering the F90 for around £144 inc vat – basically identical to the older F80. The F180 offers an even better £ to gigabyte ratio, at £274 inc vat, which works out at £1.52/GB. A figure many would have dreamt barely possible when SSD's were first released.

Kitguru says: SSD's keep getting more affordable, but its still a little way off becoming totally mainstream.
