SilverStone Argon Series AR01 CPU Cooler Review

We are impressed with the SilverStone Argon Series AR01 cooler. The build quality and cooling performance are excellent and make for an attractive package for those on a tight budget.

The included fan is reasonably high quality although running at full speed is not recommended, as it will emit high noise levels. We would replace the fan with two higher grade units to work in a push-pull configuration. Additional mounts are generously supplied for this.

We have some concerns with the manual SilverStone supply with the product, it would be rather confusing for inexperienced system builders to follow clearly. It seems like a small point to make, however these little details can make the build process much more enjoyable, rather than frustrating.

Available at a very reasonable £23.98 inc. vat we can certainly say the SilverStone AR01 provides fierce competition to Arctic Cooling and Cooler Master.

Pros:

  • Extra pair of rubber fan mounts for a push-pull configuration.
  • Strong cooling performance on a budget.
  • Enough clearance to use all memory banks with low-profile memory.
  • Excellent price point.

Cons:

  • Manual needs improved.
  • Installation can be fiddly at times.

KitGuru says: A worthy contender in the budget cooling sector. If you are strapped for cash but need to keep your system cool, the SilverStone AR01 definitely deserves your attention.
