Visiontek 800W Modular Power Supply Review

The Visiontek 800W Modular Power Supply is a balanced design by Topower with no real weaknesses.

The power supply is finished with plain black paint which means it will suit a wide variety of systems without becoming a visual eyesore. The paint does attract fingerprints, but they are easily removed with a quick wipe.

Technically there are no red flags to raise. We managed to squeeze 867W from the unit before it safely shut down, allowing us to restart under safer conditions.

Noise suppression isn't class leading, but it falls well within the rated specifications across all output. Load Regulation proved excellent and we experienced no issues during testing to cause concern.

For an 80 Plus Bronze Certified power supply, the efficiency levels are better than we expected, peaking at almost 88 percent at around 50 percent load.

The 120mm fan also ensured that noise levels were never annoying, although when tasked with over 700W it does become clearly audible. It isn't really practical to be running at close to 100% load on a daily basis anyway so we don't consider this a problem.

The modular design will also ensure that routing is never an issue. The cable quality is very high and they are all sleeved, improving the appearance.

You can currently get this power supply in America for $91.24 which we feel offers great value for money. We hope Visiontek are able to bring it into the United Kingdom.

Pros:

  • well balanced design.
  • Quiet
  • good cabling.
  • Modular.
  • well priced.

Cons:

  • A lot of competition in this sector.

Kitguru says: A great power supply from the Visiontek team. We just need to start seeing UK availability now.

  2. That would work around around £60 right? shame they dont sell here, seems quite competitive.

So many other options though, like XFX, corsair, Enermax.
