The OCZ FATAL1TY Series 1000W power supply arrives in a black and red coloured box with an image of Jonathan Wendel at the left. This is a high end unit that has been around now for quite some time but we never had a look at it before. This is an 80 Plus Gold Certified unit with a single +12V rail and is backed by a five year warranty to give a buyer peace of mind.
This power supply is designed to handle a high end overclocked system comprising two or more high end graphics cards.
Inside, the box supplied is protected inside thick foam. The accessories are stored beside the main unit.
A regional specific power plug, a user manual along with cable ties.
The modular cables are shipped inside a little bag, which can be reused for storing the cables.
Cable (modular) | Connectors |
MB 20+4 pin | x1 (590mm) |
6+2 pin PCIe | x6 (two hardwired and four modular) |
4+4 pin EPS12V/ATX12V | x2 (590mm – one modular and one native) |
SATA | x12 (410mm + 150mm) |
MOLEX | x8 (410mm + 150mm) |
FDD | x2 (+100mm) |
All of the cables are individually sleeved. This is very attractive but not quite as the same grade as some of the best modded cables we have seen in recent months. There are plenty of connectors, including 12 SATA connectors, 6 PCI e connectors and 2x 4+4 pin EPS12V/ATX12V connectors. All of the cables are 18AWG.
Good post thanks. My local store has a good deal on the fatality unit, even though I dont need it just yet, ill pick it up
I lose track of how many people buy the wrong power supply for their system, even though they have no plans to upgrade for years.
PC Power and Cooling are great, I have the same unit as reviewed, but just a smaller size. its been rock solid for a year now.
