Antec TruePower New 650W Power Supply Review

The Adda AD1212HB-A7BGL is a high quality 120mm fan which spins with a maximum rotational speed of 2,200rpm. The fan speed is automatically controlled by the internal ambient temperature due to the onboard PWM speed controller. It is rated to produce an air flow of 85cfm at under 40dBa. We will measure noise later.

At the far left we can see the daughtercard which is home to the AC transient filter. One X capacitor, four Y capacitors and a single coil. Soldering is high quality throughout.

All the capacitors used are high quality Nippon-Chemicon design. The double layer PCB optimises cooling efficiency. The cables are fully sleeved into the chassis to prevent any possibility of fraying over long term use.

This is a Seasonic built product with a Nippon Chemi Con capacitor positioned behind the primary heatsink. There are clear plastic isolation panels on the outside to stop contact with the outer chassis. The unit uses DC to DC converters to deliver +3.3V and +5v from the primary 12V area. The system features full OVP (Over Voltage Protection), UVP (Under Current Protection), SCP (Short Circuit Protection), OPP (Over Power Protection), and OCP (Over Current Protection).

  1. Quality product, good price too. I never pay under £100 normally for a PSU, but this is a decent price for what you get. nice to see the real world system info at the end, I never know what ill get out of it by figures.

  2. I actually use one of their older supplies in my media center at home, ive had it now for 5 years and never a single crash. I really rate these guys.

  3. A little more expensive than most, but seems worth it.

  4. I almost bought this a few months ago but went for the XFX 650W instead.

  5. Nice one, good product from Antec, although this range is all good.

  6. Terror of the deep

Almost bought their 750 W unit but went for the corsair 750 instead. good range this thought.

  7. This might be ideal for me. price isnt bad and more than enough power for my system and future upgrade in jan.

  8. I like their products, cases and PSUs are some of the best on the market.

  9. I hate to be picky, but shouldn’t the following read Antec PSU 🙂

“The XFX PSU handled the Cross loading tests without a problem and we experienced no issues.”

” We measured this AC signal amplitude to see how closely the XFX unit complied with the ATX standard.”
