EVGA introduces affordable 80-Plus Gold GE series power supplies

EVGA announced plans to delve deeper into other markets after dropping graphics card production from its business. Power Supplies are now a bigger area of focus for EVGA and the company is expanding its offering with the new GE series, offering 80Plus Gold efficiency at an affordable price tag.

The GE Series is EVGA's first non-modular unit to have EVGA ECO mode, ensuring the power supply remains fully quiet under low to medium loads. With ECO mode enabled, the 120mm fan only spins when needed. As per EVGA, the GE Series is the most efficient power supply under load among EVGA non-modular power supplies, with the least amount of ripple and noise and superior load control than its predecessors.

The GE Series was designed to fulfil the demands of system builders and gamers, with a hard-lined design that includes just the most common cables for simplicity of installation. The vast set of protection features includes OVP (Over Voltage Protection), UVP (Under Voltage Protection), OCP (Over Current Protection), OPP (Over Power Protection), SCP (Short Circuit Protection), and OTP (Over Temperature Protection). The GE series PSUs have a high-quality Japanese main capacitor to ensure long-term reliability.

The EVGA GE series power supplies will be available in 800W, 700W, 600W, and 500W models and come with a 5-year warranty. The MSRP for the 500 GE is set at $69.99, the 600 GE at $79.99, the 700 GE at $89.99, and the 800 GE at $99.99.

KitGuru says: The lack of modularity in this PSU might make it a no-go for some. However, the low entry price will make it worth it for others, you'll just want to put a little extra effort into cable management.
