MSI A88X-G45 Gaming Motherboard Review

Tomb Raider received much acclaim from critics, who praised the graphics, the gameplay and Camilla Luddington’s performance as Lara with many critics agreeing that the game is a solid and much needed reboot of the franchise. Much criticism went to the addition of the multiplayer which many felt was unnecessary. Tomb Raider went on to sell one million copies in forty-eight hours of its release, and has sold 3.4 million copies worldwide so far.

We tested the game with the ‘normal preset' at 1920×1080.

The game wasn't perfectly playable at any of the settings, as the frame rate was running close to the minimum smooth rate of 25 fps. Overclocking the system to 4.5ghz however proved worthwhile, as the minimum frame rate increased to 24 from 21 at 3.7ghz and 23 at 4.25ghz.

  1. Great looking board, bit costly when most seem to be £30 less, but I guess if you wanted the best for your overclocking this is the one to get. Id rather get FX though for games.

  2. Everyone is making red and black boards now, all look the same – I wish they would all have their own styles like they did in the past. I dont even like Red and black ! (apart from my super hero costume)

  3. Seems like they are targeting the wrong market with the board. I dont know anyone who wants a 7850 and three graphics card slots! AMD lovers go for 8350 FX with graphics cards like that.
