Gigabyte Z790 Aorus Master Review

The Gigabyte Z790 Aorus Master is an impressive Z790 motherboard that delivers epic performance however it benefits from some care and attention. The Auto BIOS profile works well but draws higher levels of Vcore and CPU power than we like to see. By contrast the Maximum Performance and Instant 6GHz profiles are problematic and best left on one side.

If you work with the Auto profile and check your CPU temperature under typical work loads then you may well be perfectly happy; alternatively you might find it beneficial to cap the CPU power limit to 250W which will force the system to behave itself.

We feel the reason the Gigabyte BIOS writers have let rip is that the hardware in this motherboard is top notch. This means they can push the power limits in search of higher performance without any concern they might run into trouble along the way.

The 20-channel Renesas RAA229131 PWM controller and 20x 105A Renesas RAA22010540 power stages for CPU Vcore are ridiculously over specified and can handle any punishment you might choose to deliver. We are glad to see the Gigabyte Z790 Aorus Master is loaded with USB ports and M.2 SSD slots but the fact is that you don't really need to dig into the details.

This motherboard oozes class and quality from the moment you open the box and that makes it easy to overlook any minor annoyances we experienced along the way.

You can buy the Gigabyte Aorus Master for £619.99 from Overclockers UK HERE.
