EVGA launches the Z490 Dark KINGPIN Edition motherboard for enthusiast overclockers

Named after the famous overclocker Vince “K|NGP|N” Lucido, the Z490 Dark K|NGP|N edition is the latest addition to EVGA motherboard portfolio. Aimed at the overclocking aficionados, this motherboard's set of features will allow users to “pull every last ounce of performance from the new 10th Gen Intel Core CPUs”.

The Z490 Dark K|NGP|N edition is an E-ATX motherboard with a rather unique look. Featuring a 10-layer PCB, 18-phase design, and 2x 8-pin EPS connectors, users will surely push their CPU to new heights. This motherboard also comes with triple BIOS support, dual debug LEDs, onboard clear CMOS, power and reset buttons, onboard temperature and voltage monitoring, SafeBoot button, PCIe disable switches, and much more.

There are a total of 8x 4-pin fan headers and only two DDR4 memory slots supporting up to 64GB of DDR4-5000. There's also a total of 8x SATA III ports with support for RAID 0, 1, 5, and 10, 2x M.2 Key-M slots supporting up to 110mm drives, and a U.2 port.

The 3x PCIe x16 expansion slots are reinforced, and come arranged as 1×16/8, 1×8/4 and 1×4. There's also an additional PCIe x4 expansion slot. This motherboard supports 2-way SLI configurations and is equipped with an Intel I225-V NIC and an Intel I219V, providing two ethernet ports with 2.5Gbps and 1Gbps support, respectively. Additionally, there's an Intel Wi-Fi 6 AX201 module that offers WiFi 6 and Bluetooth 5.1 connectivity. The Realtek ALC1220 audio codec handles the sound processing and supports 7.1 channel HD audio, but there's also an SV3H615 3D headphone amplifier to further improve audio loudness.

Besides the networking and audio ports, the other I/O options of this motherboard include a PS/2 combo port, 2x USB-A 3.2 Gen1 ports, five USB-A 3.2 Gen2 ports, a USB 3.2 Gen 2 Type-C port, and a Mini-DisplayPort. There are also additional internal I/O, including 3x USB 2.0 headers, a USB 3.2 Gen1 header, and a USB-C 3.2 Gen2 header.
