DDR5 memory world record broken with 11,255MHz overclock

The DDR5 memory overclocking record has been broken once again. Using a Gigabyte Z790 Tachyon motherboard, renowned overclocker HiCookie managed to push the boundaries with an astonishing 11,255MHz overclock.

HiCookie set the new record with an impressive 11,255 MHz (timings 64-127-127-127) using Aorus DDR5 memory (16GB) modules and an LN2-cooled Intel Core i9-13900K clocked at 0.8 GHz. In second place, there's Seby9123 with an 11,253MHz memory frequency, followed by lupin_no_musume with 11,128MHz.

Designed by and for overclocking enthusiasts, Gigabyte's Z790 Aorus Tachyon motherboard boasts an advanced all-digital power design with 15+1+2 phases. Thanks to its memory trace optimisation and Shielded Memory Routing implementation, the Z790 Aorus Tachyon worked as an essential piece to achieve the new record.

The two-DIMM-slot motherboard also features an integrated overclocking toolkit equipped with convenient shortcut keys, toggle switches, and voltage detection functions to make overclocking easier.

KitGuru says: Don't expect to see anything much higher than this on the current platforms. However, the Raptor Lake Refresh that's likely coming out later this year will reportedly feature enhanced DDR5 memory support. If that's the case, it could allow overclockers to push DDR5 memory even further.
