We use the stock settings for our tests.
We saw a very small improvement in the benchmark score between the i7-2700K and i7-3770K. When the system was overclocked there was also a small bump in performance.

Good looking board, but not sure I would buy biostar, have they any UK warranty terms etc? I know ASUS have a good return/replace system via their paretners?

I think you might be mistaken. The faster the encoding time, the less time you have to wait.
