Visiontek Ultimate Performance 12GB / 24GB PC3-14900 CL10 1866mhz Review

Today we are using the excellent Asus Rampage III Black Edition X58 motherboard with a Core i7 990x.

When we first started the system, the memory was detected as 1333mhz with timings of 9-9-9-24.

Using the X.M.P Profile correctly adjusted the memory to the right speeds of 1866mhz at timings of 10-10-10-24.

System validation here for 12GB of memory installed.

Sadly no matter how much voltage or how loose we set the timings, the system was not stable at anything above 1866mhz. We tried 11-11-11-30 @ 2000mhz and it still wouldn't help with stability. That said, we didn't expect this kit to overclock as previously 1600mhz has been our best result from leading manufacturers. With three 4GB sticks in an X58 system, overclocking becomes more difficult.

Visiontek actually sent us 2 separate kits of 12GB memory. With both installed for a total of 24GB, the system didn't need any settings loosened which bodes well for system performance junkies who use their main system for high demand professional applications, rather than just gaming.

System validation here for 24gb of memory installed.

  1. I like the way they have used a mid size heatspreader.

  2. I cant see their memory products for sale anywhere. Can you ask what countries they are supporting please? is it just america?

  3. awesome, I wish I had 24GB of ram. cant wait to see the quad kits for the upcoming intel platform !

  4. They seem to be getting a good supply from the far east for this range. im impressed.

  5. Quality, always liked Visiontek. nice to see them back into the ram business.

  6. I think these are USA only. which is a real shame as I need quality memory for my X58 system 🙁

  7. I never understood why kingston went for the massive heatspeaders. even these aren’t needed. just keep them small guys, then we never have to worry about coolers.

  8. Lifetime warranty, great performance. but how much? and where? my friend went to buy the sandybridge kit and can’t find it anywhere.

  9. Read the other review on the 1600MHz and it seems Visiontek seems to be poised well. I’d like to attempt overclocking a 24GB kit on my own though…
