G.Skill brings 8000MT/s Trident Z5 Royal Neo memory to AMD platforms

G.Skill has recently unveiled its new Trident Z5 Royal Neo memory kit, redefining DDR5 memory standards for AMD platforms. This top-of-the-line kit features two 16GB modules, boasting a total capacity of 32GB and impressive CL38-48-48-128 timings. Operating at DDR5-8000 speeds, this kit is configured in the BIOS to leverage the 1:2 clock divider mode.

The DDR5-6400 kit by G.Skill holds the title for the fastest DDR5 memory with AMD EXPO support. Notably, it falls short compared to Intel XMP-based kits, which currently offer speeds of up to 8400MT/s within G.Skill's product line. However, with AMD's Ryzen 9000 series, DDR5 memory support is expected to be improved, allowing users to push the memory to higher speeds.

The most recent AGESA (1.2.0.0a) now accommodates DDR5-8000 profiles (OPP), and existing ones are starting to receive the BIOS upgrade with the new microcode, which also adds support for real-time memory overclocking (On The Fly). Importantly, these features are set to be integrated into all current AM5 consumer chipsets, indicative of the continued support for this speed by current AMD 600-series motherboards.

G.Skill has not made any announcements regarding other series embracing the EXPO 8000MT/s profile. While the Royal series showcases the top of G.Skill's offerings, the looks of this memory kit may not attract everyone's preferences. The pricing for the Trident Z5 Royal Neo memory kit is expected to come out in August 2024, but pricing has not been disclosed yet.
