Kingston tops list for channel SSD shipments

Analyst research companies Forward Insights and TRENDFOCUS have released their market share data for 2019, with the former company ranking Kingston ahead of both Samsung and Western Digital in terms of channel SSD shipments.

Forward Insights ranked several SSD manufacturers by marketshare, looking at worldwide channel SSD shipments. Kingston was ranked in first place, with 18.3 percent market share, ahead of Western Digital with 16.5 percent, and Samsung  with 15.1 percent. According to Forward Insights, a total of 120 million channel SSDs were shipped during 2019.

According to TRENDFOCUS, Kingston was the third largest global supplier of SSDs in 2019, with a 10.4 percent market share, behind its competitors Western Digital and Samsung. The analyst company also reported that 2019 saw more SSDs being shipped compared to 2018 – an increase of 36 percent, totalling 276 million SSDs shipped worldwide.

Tony Hollingsbee, SSD business manager on Kingston EMEA, comments: “The 2019 research findings from both analyst firms validate Kingston’s growing presence and position in the SSD market”.
