CES 2024: Acer showcases impressive 3D display tech and new laptops

Leo is in Las Vegas this week for CES. Our first point of call was Acer, who are launching a bunch of new products for 2024, including new Predator Helios laptops, new 3D display tech and more. Leo breaks it all down in our first video of CES!

At the top of the list we have the new Predator Helios laptops. The Predator Helios 16 will be available with Intel's new 14th Gen Core i9 HX-series processor. Paired along side it will be ‘up to' an RTX 4080, so if you have the cash, you'll be able to configure this into a very powerful portable gaming machine. For the display, Acer has gone with Mini LED and better yet, it has a 250Hz refresh rate.

The bigger Helios 18 is bigger, offering up to a Core i9 and up to an RTX 4090, placing this in the upper echelon of gaming laptops. For something a bit more affordable, the Predator Helios Neo 16 will offer up to an RTX 4070 and a 240Hz display.

Acer has been developing software to make glasses-free 3D for PC displays in recent years. Unfortunately, we can't show this to you in action on camera but as Leo puts it, it looks “absolutely remarkable” in person. The first monitor to sport this new Spatial Labs tech will be launching later this year, but it will be pricey, starting at $2000.

Acer is also upping its sustainability efforts with its new Aspire Vero laptops. The Aspire Vero 16 we saw this week is made with at least 60 percent PCR casing – recycled plastic. This is a step in the right direction for combating e-waste and a significant jump from Acer's previous PCR laptops.

Finally, we have laptops aimed more at the regular consumer. The SwiftGo 14 packs up to an Intel Ultra 9, while maintaining a very thin and light profile. The Swift Go 16 is larger but offers similar hardware, once again with up to an Intel Core Ultra 9 for the processor. You'll benefit from new technologies like Intel AI boost and WiFi 7, and you'll get an OLED display.

The Swift X14 is aimed more towards the gaming crowd, as it is configurable with up to RTX 4070 graphics, along with an Intel Core Ultra 7 CPU.

With these new laptops sporting WiFi 7, you may be considering upgrading your network setup to support it. With that in mind, Acer is launching the new Predator Connect T7 and the Predator Connect X7 WiFi 7 routers.

KitGuru Says: We do hope to see Acer's Spatial Labs 3D display technology making its way to consumers this year. What did you all think of Acer's CES launches this year? Is there anything you'll be keeping an eye out for in the months ahead?
