AMD Ryzen 9 7950X3D Review

Adding a 64MB chunk of extra L3 cache to the AMD Ryzen 9 7950X3D delivers some astonishing results in gaming, while also delivering solid performance in Cinebench and Blender.

The downside is that AMD has had to work hard on the software stack for the chipset drivers to ensure your PC understands which tasks should be sent to which CCD. As we show in our video, it's a rather complex process with a number of variables, any of which could cause complications.

While we are impressed by the results we have to reserve final judgement until we have seen the Ryzen 7 7800X3D which will be priced at $449. It seems likely the new Ryzen 7 will deliver superb gaming performance at a much lower price than Ryzen 9. If you edit videos by day and game by night you should certainly consider buying the new Ryzen 9 7950X3D, rather than Intel's toasty Core i9-13900K.

AMD Ryzen 9 7950X3D goes on sale on 28th February, the day after this review goes live, and will sell for £749.99 at Overclockers UK.
