The PC 350 may lack the glossy plastic and bright colours of the SteelSeries Siberia V2 headset but it is still an impressive gaming headset through and through. This doesn’t make the PC 350 unattractive, though. In fact, we love the understated aesthetics of the headset as they give it a sleek, professional look.
We also admire the high-quality plastics used throughout the headset which give it a sturdy feel. The black and grey matte paint finish adds to the quality finish and should stand the test of time.
The hinged earpieces are of the over-ear variety and have large faux-leather pads which press against the sides of your head. The pressure applied by the pads is ample to keep the headset securely in place without causing discomfort, even after a few hours of usage. The adjustable headband also has a padded faux-leather strip to improve comfort.
At the heart of each earpiece there is a 38mm driver unit with a frequency response of 10 Hz – 26,000 Hz, an impedance of 150 Ohms and a sound pressure level of 108 dB. When listening to music or playing games at a reasonable volume, most external sounds are blocked out completely. This is partly thanks to the closed-type earpieces.
The boom microphone is attached to the left earpiece using a hinge. This means you can fold it up when it’s not in use. The microphone has a frequency response of 50 Hz – 16,000 Hz and a sensitivity level of -38 dBV at 94 dBSPL.
Sennheiser have opted for reasonably durable cable shielding that should protect the three metre cable effectively for a number of years. Half-way down the cable there is a small in-line control that enables us to adjust the volume of the headphones and turn the microphone on and off. On the back of this there is a small clip for convenience.
On the end of the cable there are two 6.5mm plugs for the headphones and microphone. These are gold-plated to ensure the best possible connection quality. The lack of a 3.5mm option does restrict the PC 350 almost exclusively to the soundcard, prohibiting use with a laptop or MP3 player without an adapter.
Expensive, but a quality product. Henry, how does it compare to say a realtek onboard sound card? Id love to know the discernable differences.
IT isnt really that expensive, considering the bundle. sure its not an impulse buy, but most people buying one of these will already know what they want. Asus have stiff competition against turtle and other dedicated companies, but ive heard quite a lot of good things about this sonar. cool name btw, not like some of the names.
Id need to really hear this, I find onboard sound is really good for what I need, and this would get me a new CPU. Wish more stores did live tests with these things, then we could hear for ourselves. hard to justify 200 for a product that might need higher quality partnering hardware than some of us have.
Really like this bundle, been looking for a new sound card for a while as the onboard solutions are crap. There is a big difference trust me !
excellent. its unusual for a company like asus to bundle headphones from another company without rebadging them with their own stickers etc. they will probably sell more this way however as sennheiser have a good rep.
Quality product from Asus. people who bitch about price never buy their motherboard either then, and they are missing out on the finest build quality on the net. bar none. (although MSI are close now).
How compatible is their software? I bought a creative sound card last year and christ, its bloatware city. I had to deinstall half of it. is this the same principle?
