SanDisk Professional unveils powerful storage gear for media creation

Western Digital isn't only announcing new storage gear for the gaming market today, the company has also unveiled SanDisk Professional, a new brand of premium storage solutions for creative professionals.

Professional content creation requires reliable storage, as content is captured, saved, transferred, shared and archived. To harmonise this process, SanDisk Professional has a number of new storage devices to help out. Speaking on this, WD's Senior VP and GM of Consumer Solutions Business, Jim Welsh, said:

“Our customers trust their life’s work to our products. We design and create solutions for every stage of the creative process, harmonizing our customers’ experience so they can save time and focus more on creating. Expanding our brand family with SanDisk Professional allows us to offer advanced solutions to people around the world who rely on the best technology available for their inspiring work.”

The first SanDisk Professional device unveiled today is the PRO-CINEMA CFexpress VPG400, a rugged CFexpress card for cinematographers and videographers, delivering a minimum of 400MB/s write speeds to keep up with the demands of today's media demands. Following that, there are four new SanDisk Professional PRO-READER devices featuring a USB-C interface and support for SuperSpeed USB 10Gb/s. These are designed to work with most common camera media, including CFast, CFexpress, RED Mini-Mag, CF, microSD and SD cards.

Next up is the PRO-DOCK 4, a 4-bay reader docking station that can swiftly enable users to offload captured content from multiple cameras on up to four storage cards simultaneously, thus saving time during production.

The final products announced today is the new 4TB G-DRIVE ArmorLock Encrypted NVMe SSD and a series of new G-DRIVE rugged portable drives featuring Thunderbolt 3 and USB-C support, as well as enterprise-grade technologies such as G-RAID and G-RAID SHUTTLE. These are geared towards reliability and mass storage for back-ups and archives of mission-critical content.

Everything announced today will be available this summer, with the exception of the new 4TB G-DRIVE, which is going to begin rolling out in early June.
