XFX HD7950 Black Edition Overlocked Review

We are using the latest version of Sapphire's TriXX tool for overclocking today. This has proven to work great with all AMD discrete graphics hardware.

An impressive overclock to 1,138mhz from the core which translates to around 26 percent. We managed to push the GDDR5 memory to 1504mhz, from 1375mhz.

The results are quite staggering, as when we push the XFX HD7950 Black Edition to the redline, it manages to outperform the reference clocked HD7970, by a clear margin. Almost 8,800 points in 3DMark 11 is also only around 500 points less than the GTX590!

  1. great looking board, but it looks like it might be more than £400………

  2. I love the look of this card, like the 7970. Still too much cash for most people, they need a good performing card around £200. not £350-£500. very few people can afford any of these cards

  3. Not questioning the hardware, but its such a small market. Im more interested in the £150 sector. and what AMD can do for that.

  4. isn the logical move to buy the cheapest 7950 and just overclock the nuts off it ? dont see any need to spend a lot more above this, for a cooler.

  5. Dont see this version on sale yet.
