XFX HD6950 DD, HD6870 DD and HD6790 DD Review

HQV Benchmark 2.0 is an updated version of the original tool and it consists of various video clips and test patterns which are designed to evalute motion correction, de-interlacing, decoding, noise reduction, detail enhancement and film cadence detection.

There are two versions of the program, standard definition on DVD and high definition on Bluray. As our audience will be concentrating on HD content so will we.

This has a total of 39 video tests which is increased from 23 in the original and the scoring is also up from a total of 130 to 210. As hardware and software gets more complicated, the software has been tuned to make sure we can thoroughly maximise our analysis.

  1. Very nice indeed, HD6870 is by far b est value, thats a bargain.

  2. Excellent, I agree HD6870 is best and its very well priced. I dont get paid for 2 weeks sadly 🙁

  3. Thought they had vanished off the face of the earth there for a while. nice to see them back … with a bang.

  4. Never mind the 6870, the 6790 is really more than most people would ever need, quite surprised how well it performs even at 1080p. But for the small price increase, 6870 is much better value.

  5. Very good, thanks for review.

  6. I like XFX< always had good luck with their cards. shame they stopped the cool X shaped boxes they used to have.

  7. are they the first to have used a direct touch heatpipe cooler like this?

  8. Two of the HD6870s seem best to me, just a little more than one of the 6950’s.

They should lower the 6950 price to £199 inc vat IMO or even £190.

  9. Great review man, im really looking at one of those 6790s for my media center, but it seems poor value when the 6870 is only 25 quid more.

  10. 6870 FTW. those are great cards. XFX DD version is a bargain, orfered one.

  11. really cool. And the price isn’t really bad…
