Sapphire HD7950 MAC Edition Review

F1 2012 is a video game developed by Codemasters. It is based on the 2012 Formula One season, and is the sequel to F1 2010 and F1 2011. It is the fourth Formula One game developed by the Codemasters studios after the company renewed its licence to develop the official games of the series. It was announced on March 18, 2012, co-inciding with the first race of the 2012 season. The game was released on 18 September 2012 in North America, 20 September 2012 in Australia and 21 September 2012 in Europe. It uses the EGO Engine.

We set the game up with the high quality settings at 2560×1600, and disabled anti aliasing.

This game didn't seem to run quite as well as others we tested, looking a little choppy at 2560×1600. We would advise running it at 1920×1080, rather than lowering the image quality any further. The Sapphire HD7950 MAC Edition certainly had the edge over the AMD HD5870, delivering a much more enjoyable real world experience.

  1. Wow, thats a heck of a nice card. Mac gamers will be wetting themselves!

  2. I have mine pre-ordered. fab review, thanks !

  3. Well its extremely expensive, but its just as well Apple didnt get them on their store, or they would probably charge £1000 for the card and fitting!

Nice to see Sapphire looking outside the usual channels. Mac gamers will have been dying to get something like this for a long time.

  4. Wow, £400 for a HD7950. Shame we cant buy the cooler would look awesome in my NZXT side panel modded case !

  5. About time Apple had a decent up to date video card, but its kind of ironic its coming just before the new range, so in a few months it will already be out of date.

Perhaps Sapphire will be doing this on a more regular basis for Apple users? I dont know why people are saying its expensive, of course its going to be expensive, the production run will be limited and they wont sell millions. I reckon it might sell ok however, a lot of mac gamers with towers.

  6. i love the styling.

Shame they didnt sell it overclocked at 1000mhz 🙂

  7. Awesome review, many thanks for this. i definitely will buy one for my westmere mac pro.
