Sapphire HD7790 OC Review

Aliens V Predator has proved to be a big seller since the release and Sega have taken the franchise into new territory after taking it from Sierra. AVP is a Direct X 11 supported title and delivers not only advanced shadow rendering but high quality tessellation for the cards on test today.

To test the cards we used a 1920×1080 resolution with DX11, Texture Quality Very High, MSAA Samples 1, 16 af, ambient occulsion on, shadow complexity high, motion blur on. We use this with most of our graphics card testing so cards are comparable throughout reviews.

We can see the performance gains when moving from the HD7770 to the HD7790. The frame rate runs too low on the HD7770, dropping under the 25fps sweet spot. The HD7850 offers a minor performance increase over the HD7790 with this game.

  2. Good looking card from Sapphire, not so sure of the range however, pricing looks off.

  3. HD7850 is the best of the bunch, they used to £180, now you can get one for under £130.

  4. Good review. looks like a good buy if they replaced the HD7770 with this one at the same £100 price. Can’t see this card online, interested to see how much of a premium the OC and cooler will cause.

  5. I like the intro and conclusion, very true points on pricing. And this audience are all about price. some reviews just overlook it completely.

  6. Do you know Scan have the XFX HD7850 for £127 today !

Unless AMD force up the price of the HD7850 to sell HD7790 this wont work. people will get pissed too. HD7850 at under £140 rocks.
