Nvidia have been holding onto the top performance spot for some time now with their GTX780 Ti. The prowess of this high end solution at 1600p and Ultra HD 4k is unmatched … particularly impressive as the heat output is modest when compared to leading AMD parts.
Over the last couple of months we have seen many high grade custom GTX780 Ti cards from various Nvidia partners. We were interested to see the Gigabyte Windforce OC version, especially as the out of box clock speeds are so high.
The overclocked Gigabyte GTX780 Ti WindForce OC we reviewed today has relegated the Palit GTX780 Ti Jetstream into second place.
The Windforce cooler is proficient, and the six thick copper heatpipes ensure that heat is transferred quickly from the core to the aluminum cooling fins.
In regards to cooling performance, there is no doubt that the JetStream cooler on the Palit card is superior, although it is a little louder when gaming at default settings.
The Gigabyte GTX780 Ti WindForce OC is unmatched when it comes to brute power. It easily outperforms the reference cooled GTX Titan Black when gaming at default clock speeds and is often a couple of frames per second ahead of the Palit GTX780 Jetstream OC.
At 1080p or 1600p this often isn't too noticeable in the real world, but when we push the resolution to Ultra HD 4K then every frame can make a difference to the perceived smoothness – especially as the hardware is often struggling to maintain a consistently playable experience.
The Gigabyte GTX780 Ti Windforce OC is one of the fastest video cards that money can buy, and the price has dropped in recent weeks to help sweeten the deal. Overclockers UK are running an offer this week , dropping the price to £509.99 inc vat. This is a reduction of around £100 on the initial price in January.
If you are investing in a new Ultra HD 4k monitor for gaming then the Gigabyte GTX780 Ti Windforce OC is one of the best graphics card you can get.
