Much as we love testing everything on our Intel Core i7 980 Extreme Edition uber-rigs, that's not what the majority of users will be carrying around with them. To test this set up, we decided to mirror the CPU performance of a lower level mobile platform.
Processor: Intel® Atom D510 1.66 GHz
Motherboard: ZOTAC Intel Atom D510 NM10-DTX WiFi Mini DTX HDMI
Graphics Card: ATI HD5570
PSU: Corsair 550W
Monitor: Dell 2407
Memory: Crucial 2GB DDR2
The performance differences when the GPU takes over the video processing are quite staggering. When the HD5570 is handling the video content the machine seems much more responsive and it is possible to multitask much easier.

These 10.6 Catalyst drivers look to be wicked. I cant get them yet?
Yeah seem to be a ‘golden set’ for sure, especially with the HQV analysis
Nice to see acceleration working so well, but as you say, with a good quad core at home, not so much of an issue.

ATI are well known for high IQ, thats not an argument. Seems to be some nice driver additions. I have been waiting a long time for deblocking

Very helpful little guide, I hate flash, but this might actually make it bearable again, it kills my system when im on youtube. just need to get a cheap ATI board now!

ATI have always had good video quality, I think this has been borne out over the years, and while I know its maybe a little subjective, this test gets as close as possible to a good analysis idea for using your own screen and vision to see the differences. this isnt a script. what you test here is actually what you can use when watching blurays.

Dying to try this driver tonight. dont think ive been excited about a driver in 3 years? seem so boring now, but adding new functionality is what i want. not another 1fps in crysis 🙂
Yeah Cat 10.6 looks like a really good driver. I love my HD MKVS so lets have IQ baby 🙂
I still prefer Forceware drivers for reliability, but after reading these articles today I would like to try a new ATI board just to see if they have improved.
Forceware drivers are better polished, but ATI IQ has always been good if you can live with the drivers.

these looks like the best drivers ati have released in years. very good new options. makes a change from faster rates in games, i dont care anymore. IQ! IQ!
