The RTX 4080 has arrived – custom cards range from £1300 to £1650

Following on from launch-day reviews yesterday, today the RTX 4080 graphics card officially becomes available to the public. The first retail listings have gone live and so far, the UK pricing situation is an interesting one, with custom cards starting at close to £1300, with the higher-end models going for £1650.

A lot of board partner cards with custom coolers are going to come in more expensive than Nvidia's Founders Edition, as is often the case. Some cards will be priced much higher, breaking into RTX 4090 price territory. For reference, an entry-level custom RTX 4090 starts at £1,699. With that in mind, paying £1,650 for a high-end custom RTX 4080 is very expensive. Nvidia continues to have the cheapest option with the Founders Edition, which starts at £1269 for the RTX 4080 and £1699 for the RTX 4090.

Taking a look at Overclockers UK, we can see plenty of custom RTX 4080 cards available at launch. The cheapest are the Gainward RTX 4080 Phantom and Palit RTX 4080 GameRock OmniBlack cards, coming in at £1,299.95. Moving up from there, we get the Zotax RTX 4080 Trinity at £1,328.99 and the Palit RTX 4080 GameRock for £1,349.99.

The Gigabyte Eagle RTX 4080 sits at £1,379.99 and the Asus TUF RTX 4080 is launching at £1,439.99. Finally, we have the top-end cards, the Asus RTX 4080 Strix and the MSI RTX 4080 Suprim X, which cost £1,649.99 and £1,589.99 respectively. Finally, there is one custom liquid-cooling option available so far – the Inno3D RTX 4080 iChill Frostbite ships with a preinstalled water block on the card for easy and quick installation into a custom cooling loop.

KitGuru Says: We noted in our review that while the RTX 4080 is good, the value proposition is questionable. With some RTX 4080s costing almost as much as an RTX 4090, that trend will likely continue for a while now. What do you all think of the RTX 4080? Are you planning on buying one or do you think this generation has become too expensive?
