Nvidia’s winning streak continues with record Q4 revenues

Back in November, we learned that Nvidia saw massive growth from the sales of its AI accelerators, leading to a huge $18.4 billion in revenue for the quarter. Now, Nvidia has published its Q4 results and somehow, more records have been shattered.

Nvidia's Q3 revenue for the year grew by a massive 206 percent year-on-year. For Q4, there is an even bigger jump, with a 409 percent year-on-year increase for its datacentre arm. In total, Nvidia's Datacentre business generated $18.4 billion in Q4 and the company as a whole generated $22.1 billion.

By contrast, the sales of gaming-oriented products like RTX GPUs, generated $2.9 billion in revenue during the quarter, which is consistent with its sales during Q3. While we didn't see growth here from Q3 to Q4, Nvidia does note that this is a 56% increase from Q4 year-on-year.

Overall, Nvidia made $60.9 billion for the year, which is a 126 percent increase compared to the previous year. Speaking on the growth Nvidia has seen, CEO, Jensen Huang, points out that the booming accelerated computing and AI markets are the big drivers, but adds that Nvidia RTX, which only launched in 2018, is now a “massive PC platform for generative AI”.

Nvidia launched new RTX 40 Super graphics cards this year, and, based on the company's usual release cadence, should be on track to launch next-gen GeForce graphics cards in either late 2024 or early 2025.
