F1 2020
We use the DirectX 12 mode, TAA, and the Ultra High quality preset.
In F1 2020, we see that all of the solutions on display offer competitive high refresh rate performance at 1080p. Even the RTX 2060 Super coupled with the affordable six core CPUs will deliver over 130 FPS on average.
If you want to hit the monitor’s 165 Hz refresh rate on average, an RTX 2080 Ti is a solid choice, though the Intel chips do just about manage the task with the RTX 2070 Super. This is another example of Intel’s enhanced gaming prowess for the highly clocked Skylake-based chips in high refresh rate gaming scenarios.
Moving up to 1440p, we still see Intel’s outperformance with each graphics card combination that is notable with RTX 2080 Ti and RTX 3080 calibre graphics cards. With that said, the Zen 2 chips continue to offer competitive performance and get close to the 165 FPS target coupled with a 2080 Ti.
If you are happy with 120 FPS on average and some variable refresh rate monitor benefits, the RTX 2070 Super is a strong choice on either the Intel or AMD platforms.
F1 2020 is one of the titles that supports Nvidia's DLSS technology. Loading this up in the game allowed us to gain around 20 FPS on our 3950X system with the RTX 2070 Super. This resulted in average FPS performance close to a 140 FPS level and proved a good use of DLSS 2.0.
