Gears of War 4 now free with select GTX 1070 and 1080s

If you buy one of Nvidia's GTX 1070 or 1080 graphics cards, on top of whatever other bundles you might find, you'll be eligible for a free copy of Gears of War 4 too. As an Xbox Play anywhere title, that means that once you've registered it, you'll own a copy on Xbox One as well.

Gears of War 4 sees players return to the troubled world of Sera, taking on the role of J.D. Fenix, son of legendary war (and game) hero, Marcus Fenix, as he combats a new threat to the survival of his race. It's a game that many hope can bring the series back to its popular peak. While only time will tell if that turns out to be true, Nvidia seems happy to partner up with its release, since it's giving away a free copy with each sale of its new, high-end graphics cards. With increased support for 4K now too, gamers who pick up the new game can expect to be able to play it at ultra high-definition resolutions. Though that's where new, high-end cards come in.

You will definitely need some extra horsepower to run this game at full tilt.

KitGuru Says: The game won't be as pretty if you play it on the Xbox One of course, even if your saves and customisation will be cross platform, but hey the Xbox Scorpio is coming out next year. Maybe you can grab that too.

    wat?

  2. Just a shame the 1080’s are up to £100 more expensive than when they were first released, and moreso than preorder prices. At this point I’m practically being forced to wait for the Ti, or even Volta

Yeah, a free game doesn’t justify the current price of the card. I’d rather see the card at MSRP versus getting a game. Waiting on the Ti and waiting for AMD to put their competing cards out so we can see price drops already.

  4. Got a long wait for amd next cards probably 4-6 month still

Yeah it’s a little disappointing. It’s clear that AMD is going HBM2 with all their cards going forward, no other reason why they’re taking this long. I’m sure the 1080ti will feature HBM2 as well seeing as we’re waiting till next year.
