RTX 3070 Ti laptop GPU is on par with Titan RTX in Geekbench

Announced at CES 2022, the RTX 3070 Ti laptop GPU is yet to hit the market, but an early benchmark result gives us a glimpse of what sort of performance we can expect. According to a leaked Geekbench result, the laptop GPU should perform similarly to an Nvidia Titan RTX desktop card.

The Geekbench entry originally shared by ITHome (via Wccftech) was recorded on an MSI Vector GP66-12UGS packing an Intel Core i7-12700H and 16GB of DDR4 memory. Based on the data on the entry, the card will offer a 1.5GHz clock frequency and 46 SMs with 5888 CUDA cores.

The system was tested in Geekbench's OpenCL benchmark, scoring 124220 points. That's about the same as the average Titan RTX desktop graphics card or RTX 3080 laptop GPU (including Max-Q and Max-P models), despite featuring 256 CUDA fewer cores than the latter. Comparing the OpenCL score of the RTX 3070 Ti laptop GPU with its desktop counterpart, the laptop version is about 15% slower.

RTX 3070 Ti laptops will hit the market from February 1st for $1499 and upwards. Nvidia has claimed a performance uplift of up to 70% compared to the RTX 2070 Super, but based on the Geekbench results, it might fall a bit short of that figure – time will tell!
