Nvidia RTX 4080 Ti rumours point to early 2024 launch

As you may know, the performance gap between the RTX 4090 and the RTX 4080 is quite considerable. There's plenty of space to add at least a new GPU between the two, improving the whole RTX 40 series lineup. Although Nvidia has yet to announce such a GPU, recent reports claim the company is preparing one for early 2024.

According to MEGAsizeGPU, the name of the card is yet to be decided. Given Nvidia's departure from the Super series and the lack of a Ti model for the RTX 4080, the “Ti” naming looks the most plausible of the two.

The official specs have yet to be released, but there are hints that the underlying GPU will be the same GPU as the RTX 4090, the AD102. It's worth mentioning that the current RTX 4080 model has the AD103 GPU with 9728 CUDA cores, which falls short of the 10,240 cores in it. However, the AD102 has 18,432, of which 16,384 are enabled on the RTX 4090. Seeing as Nvidia is going for the AD102, the GPU on the upcoming “RTX 4080 Ti” would come with between 10,240 and 16,384 CUDA cores.

As for power consumption, the report claims a TGP of 450W. Although the RTX 4080's power consumption, which is presently listed at 320W, may rise, it's crucial to remember that without data on memory requirements, this increase may not be significant. The minimum would be to match the RTX 4080, which packs 16GB of GDDR6X running at 22.4 Gbps across a 256-bit memory bus. At most, it should not exceed the RTX 4090's 24GB of GDDR6X memory at 21 Gbps on a 384-bit memory bus.

This new model is expected to be released in early 2024. Pricing is claimed to be in the “same price range as 4080”.
