Nvidia RTX 4060 for laptops is reportedly 20% faster than the RTX 3060

Recent rumours have indicated that we'll see the first RTX 40-powered laptops in the new year. With the launch seemingly imminent, benchmark leaks have been occurring, giving us an early look at performance. In a newly leaked 3DMark Time Spy run, we see the RTX 4060 for laptops outperforming its previous-gen equivalent by 20 percent.

The picture showing the 3DMark Time Spy scores shared by ITHome (via VideoCardz) shows the GPU was paired with a 14-core Intel Core i7-13700H processor. Unfortunately, it's unclear which laptop was tested. The system scored 10,223 points, with a graphics score of 10,050 points and a CPU score of 13,706 points.

Comparing the graphics score of the upcoming mobile GPU to the RTX 3060 laptop GPU, there's a 20% generational increase. Still, it's not enough to reach the RTX 3070 laptop GPU performance level, which scored 5% higher than the RTX 4060 laptop GPU.

Some RTX 4060 laptop specifications are still unknown, but rumours claim it will be based on the AD107 GPU and pack 8GB of GDDR6 memory across a 128-bit or 256-bit memory bus. Its TGP is expected to vary between 85W (base) and 140W (115W+25W DB). Hopefully, we'll be able to learn more about it at Nvidia's keynote at CES 2023, scheduled for January 3rd.

KitGuru says: A 20% performance uplift is decent but not surprising. Are any of you going to be on the lookout for a new laptop in 2023?
