Intel Lunar Lake iGPU outperforms Arc A370M in OpenCL CompuBench test

Intel is gearing up to unveil its latest Core Ultra 200V “Lunar Lake” mobile CPU family, designed for lightweight laptops, mini-PCs, and gaming handhelds. The Lunar Lake CPUs will feature Xe2-based integrated graphics (Arc 130V and 140V), which we've only heard rumours about up until now. However, a recent report puts a number on its OpenCL performance in CompuBench, allowing us to compare it with other GPUs.

The integrated graphics subsystem in the Core Ultra 200V series will feature Intel's latest Xe2 graphics for low-power devices, Xe2-LPG. There will be two Arc iGPUs: the Arc 140V with 8 Xe2-Cores and the Arc 130V with 7 Xe2-Cores.

The CompuBench OpenCL tests conducted on the Arc 140V (via VideoCardz) provide insight into its performance. Despite the absence of specific details regarding the Core Ultra model utilised for the test, it is confirmed that the GPU's clock speed is 2000MHz, narrowing down the options to either the Core Ultra 7 268V or the Core Ultra 7 266V. Notably, the GPU is reported to have access to 8GB of system-shared memory.

It should be noted that while these OpenCL benchmarks are informative for assessing raw compute performance, they may not be directly indicative of gaming performance. Comparing it against the Xe-LPG-based Arc A370M, which features 8 Xe-Cores and a TDP of 35W to 50W, shows the Lunar Lake's iGPU outperforms comfortably despite the lower TDP (17W-30W). Furthermore, the Arc 140V excels compared to the Radeon 780M and delivers performance similar to the GTX 1650. However, it is worth noting that this is just one benchmark, we'll need more comparative data from a range of benchmarks and games to truly assess performance.
