Intel Arc A380 gets 150MHz boost with latest drivers

Owners of Intel Arc A380 GPUs should have a pleasant surprise if they update their GPU drivers. These new drivers not only improve DirectX 11 gaming performance but also offer a firmware upgrade for some GPUs. The BIOS update focuses on increasing stability, fan behaviour, bug fixes, and compatibility with HDMI connections. What it doesn't do, at least based on the update notes, is increase the GPU clock speed, but GPU-Z suggests otherwise.

Eternal Tempest, a Neowin forum member, noticed that their Arc A380 has gotten a fresh firmware update with a minor frequency bump. The GPU has been upgraded by 150MHz, raising the default GPU rate from 2.0GHz to 2.15GHz. This update also includes a BIOS upgrade from 20.0.1053 to 20.0.1064.

The 150MHz overclock is a modest change that should have no effect on power usage. Logically, performance will improve with the new BIOS, given that it increases the clock speed. However, the gains should not be noticeable without using FPS monitoring tools.

It's worth noting that the Arc A380 GPU is from ASRock and not from Intel itself. As such, we believe the clock speed bump will affect cards from other manufacturers as well.
