First Nvidia RTX 4050 laptop GPU benchmark spotted

Reports about the RTX 4050 desktop GPU are still scarce, but the laptop variant is already popping up on benchmark databases. Two listings for the RTX 4050 laptop GPU have been spotted on PugetBench, showing performance between an RTX 3050 and RTX 3060 laptop GPU.

The PugetBench entries (1, 2) shared by Benchleaks show a Samsung NP960XFH laptop (probably the updated Galaxy Book Pro) with an RTX 4050 Laptop GPU, an Intel Core i7-13700H CPU and 16GB of DDR5-6400 memory scoring 1052 and 1124 points in the PugetBench for Adobe Premiere Pro 0.95.6 and Premiere Pro 22.6.2.

In the best entry, the RTX 4050 laptop GPU scored 57.4 points in the GPU segment, putting it above the RTX 3050 laptop GPU by about 20-30%. However, compared to the RTX 3060 laptop GPU, the RTX 4050 falls behind by about 10 to 15 percent. With that said, the TDP difference between these GPUs could be skewing the numbers.

There's still some time before the RTX 4050 laptop GPU releases, so any tweaks to the GPU drivers can improve the scores. We don't know when the first RTX 40 laptop GPUs will arrive, but rumours point to an early 2023 launch, possibly at CES.

KitGuru says: Even if the benchmark results are not conclusive, it's almost guaranteed that the RTX 4050 will fall between the RTX 3050 and the RTX 3060 in terms of performance. Now we'll just have to wait and see how much new-gen laptops end up costing.
