Current-gen graphics card prices rumoured to drop further in September

It's starting to look like September will be a good month to get a current-gen graphics card. New reports claim AMD and Nvidia will reduce the prices of their graphics cards, just in time to make room for new-gen GPUs.

The prices of GPUs have been steadily dropping since early 2022. Currently, most graphics card models are available at MSRP or below, with a few exceptions. However, prices may decrease even more, likely because manufacturers want to clear the stock they're still holding after the crypto mining crash. Moreover, there's a new generation of GPUs on the way from both AMD and Nvidia, and as you might expect, manufacturers would rather have their warehouses full of new GPUs instead of old ones.

The reports from MyDrivers and Zol (via VideoCardz) claim this new price reduction will come into effect later this month. It is also suggested that Nvidia will drop its prices more aggressively than AMD, but no specifics were shared.

Nvidia and AMD have recently been running limited-time promotions and sales in partnership with different retailers. It is unclear if this rumoured price cut would be an official, permanent price drop, or another limited-time promotional sale. Nvidia and AMD have not announced any pricing changes publicly, so treat this as rumour for now.
