AMD RDNA GPUs to feature up to 64MB of Infinity Cache

In recent days, there have been significant revelations about AMD's highly anticipated next-generation GPU architecture, RDNA 4. We've already learned of at least four RDNA 4 GPU variations, and now, we have details on Infinity Cache. 

We've learned that the upcoming GPUs will come in four variants with three memory configurations, according to Kepler_L2. However, it seems the leaker now has some additional information on the RDNA 4 GPUs, including the amount of Infinity Cache (IC) they will feature.

While memory bandwidth is an important aspect of the AMD specifications, the size of AMD's IC holds equal significance. The current-generation GPUs use 32MB (Navi 33), 64MB (Navi 32), and 96MB (Navi 31). The lack of a 96MB Infinity Cache GPU in the RDNA 4 GPU line-up ties into previous rumours that RDNA 4 will focus on mid-range and entry-level graphics cards, similar to how AMD handled the RX 5000 generation. Kepler_L2 has hinted at AMD using 64MB and 48MB IC configurations.

It's worth noting that AMD introduced a second-generation IC for RDNA 3 GPUs. As for RDNA 4, we're unsure if it will use the same IC as RDNA 3 or a new generation. While AMD has not officially announced the launch date for its RDNA 4 GPUs, industry insiders suggest that the next-generation discrete GPUs are expected to debut early next year.

KitGuru says: It looks like the RDNA 4-based x600(XT) GPUs are getting a 16MB bump in Infinity Cache. On the other hand, the x700 and x800 GPUs will probably still use 64MB of IC.
