AMD may have leaked the RX 9000 reference GPU design

It seems AMD has jumped the gun on its Radeon RX 9000 series reveal. A new marketing campaign on Reddit has inadvertently showcased a never-before-seen graphics card, and eagle-eyed enthusiasts are convinced it's an upcoming RX 9000 series graphics card.

The leaked image from an ad on Reddit (via VideoCardz) features a triple-fan graphics card with a black and silver design. An illuminated Radeon logo adorns the side, but there's no indication of the model name or generation. The ad, uploaded by AMD's official Reddit account, appears to be a genuine marketing campaign, suggesting that the company accidentally revealed the reference design ahead of its official launch.

Adding to the leak, renowned hardware leaker @AnhPhuH has confirmed that the pictured card is indeed the Radeon RX 9070 XT. However, it remains unclear whether this is AMD's reference design or a custom variant from a board partner.

The timing and context of the ad are somewhat peculiar. It was published in early December and features the card alongside Ryzen 7000 series packaging and a PC equipped with a current-generation RX 7000 series GPU. However, marketing often prioritises aesthetics over accuracy, so it's possible that the surrounding elements are not to be taken as 100% accurate.

Despite the leak, AMD hasn't bothered to remove the ad, further suggesting that this might be a legitimate glimpse at the RX 9070 XT's design. With the card rumoured to launch in late January, it's likely already in production, making an accidental leak like this more plausible.
